Carrie & Lowell is the seventh studio album by the American musician Sufjan Stevens. It was released on March 31, 2015, by Asthmatic Kitty. The album features intimate and sparse instrumentation, personal lyrics, and haunting vocals, reminiscent of Sufjan’s earlier indie-folk inspired material. 
 



Branding for Music

The custom type treatment for the album redesign was  an exploration of grief and memory, both being prominant themes of the album. The rebrand also focused on texture and hand drawn illustrations instestead of the prior image dominant cover. These textures are  translated to other brand assets to create a cohesive visual narrative. The color scheme is a blend of muted cool tones that evoke feelings of nostalgia and memory.


Vinyl Packaging

Carrie & lowell’s redesigned vinyl packaging includes a front & back cover, a front and back inner sleeve, and a vinyl disc with sides A and B. The packaging also includes a lyric zine with illutrations within.
